From the ward to the print house
When I was eight, we went on a family holiday to my Dad's native Sri Lanka and I fell in love with Barefoot. Barefoot are a female lead business that produces the most brilliant hand woven textiles in an amazing kaleidoscope of colours. I have a couple of dressing gowns from that holiday and I didn't realise until recently, that in some way they have been an inspiration for my own textile journey.
Paediatric nursing was my gig before I decided to go it alone and teach myself all about textile printing. The hospital couldn't have been further from my little printing house, but it taught me everything I know about perspective, patience and perseverance. These are so important when running a small business.
